Hello and welcome to the Director’s Corner. We at the Alliance hope this newsletter finds all healthy and safe from the world’s pandemic.
Like many of you, I am writing this newsletter from the confines of my home office – otherwise noted by members of my family as “the basement”.
We’ve all had to make adjustments and the Alliance is no different – fortunately we already mostly conducted our business remotely.
To introduce myself: I’ve taken over the eSync Alliance Executive Director’s role from the tremendous work Rick Kreifeldt did. I am however not new to the Alliance, having served as a member of the board of Directors, and as a secretary from its formation. See the recent interview I did with Rick Kreifeldt in our Blog (link) or on the eSync Alliance Linked-In page (link).
Today, I would like to turn toward introducing the eSync Alliance current activities and status. The membership has grown and now exceeds 10 member companies. Our most recent addition is JOYNEXT, a leading solutions provider for connected vehicles. More interesting companies are in the process of joining, and we have an increasing list of inquiries. This is not surprising as you read through industry news of the growing demands for Over-The-Air (OTA) technology and the need for a uniform industry wide standard.
Adding to those growing OTA needs is the topic of ‘Data Gathering’ that is challenging many industry interests. The timing is perfect as the eSync Alliance is in the final stages of building on the successful 1.0 specification by introducing our eSync 2.0 specification, that delivers the standard building blocks outlining a robust platform for data gathering. Our Technical Work Group (TWG) is already outlining the next work items advancing our work to further the capabilities of eSync, and establishing eSync technology as the industry’s multi-company solution platform for OTA and Data Gathering.
Click on the links in this newsletter to find out more, and I also encourage you to follow us on the eSync Alliance web site and our LinkedIn profile. Until next time, please all stay healthy and encouraged. We can all participate during this pandemic in advancing technology standards that grow and enable future products to meet our customer demands.
Yours sincerely,
Mike Gardner
