As the festive celebrations begin and many of us start to look forward to a well-earned break, it’s important to take some time to reflect on the year that has just been. For the eSync Alliance, 2023 has been a year of exceptional growth. Membership has grown by its highest rate since its inception five years ago, with members now spanning the globe and a wide range of business types. We’ve also seen that an increasing number of OTA solution providers are adopting the eSync specification, which is testament to the hard work done by members of the Alliance to not only develop a specification that remains industry-leading, but by collaborating to spread the word about eSync, the Alliance and its benefits. This good news was shared with many of our members last month at our All-Member Meeting. The Meeting also allowed leaders of our Technical, Marketing and Compliance Work Groups to give valuable updates and insight into what’s coming up for the Alliance. Florian Baumann, Senior Director, Software, Advanced Vehicle Architecture at APTIV, and John Smrstik of the Jacinto Processors Business at Texas Instruments both provided engaging presentations across a range of topics to members as well. If you missed the All-Member Meeting, you can find out more by reading our blog at the link below.
And now, it’s time to look to the future. For many, the festive period wouldn’t be complete without the sight of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on the horizon. This year’s CES marks a milestone in the eSync Alliance’s journey, with eSync becoming the golden thread running through many automaker’s and supplier’s Software Defined Vehicle OTA demonstrations. With the Show now just weeks away, we can confirm that eSync technology will be present in more than 10 brands’ CES activities, including AWS, APTIV, Excelfore and Texas Instruments. We will also have our own spot at the COVESA Networking Reception and Showcase at the Bellagio Hotel on 9 January. Here, we will demonstrate how eSync can be used to update containerized software, using the SOAFEE SIG architecture. As many of you will appreciate, performing OTA updates to containerized software is no mean feat, and we’re proud to show that this is a nut eSync has very much cracked. We’re excited for what the show brings and are looking forward to seeing many of you there. If you are going, or watching for afar, be sure to answer our LinkedIn poll for this month, too. For now though, all that remains is for me to say, whether you’re hanging a Christmas stocking, have lit a Hanukkah candle or are just taking a well earned break, I hope you have a restful end to the year and I look forward to working with you next year.
