We welcome the news that five major Japanese automakers are working together on communications to connected cars.

Suzuki, Subaru, Daihatsu, Toyota, and Mazda announced they’re standardizing how vehicles communicate with the cloud, to improve safety and make connected services better.

This shows that these big players have recognized that they should focus on the value that can be added once the connected vehicle is a reality, rather than trying to differentiate their vehicles through how they connect. They say this will reduce the development burden for each company, and optimize resources.

Sound familiar?

Well, this is one of the key reasons that so many companies in the auto industry are coming together in the eSync Alliance. With our standardized eSync platform, automakers and tier 1s are collaborating on a common data pipeline that can reach every electronic device in the vehicle.

Clearly, many of us in the automotive industry are thinking along the same lines!
