We have long said that the watershed moment for the eSync Alliance would be when an OEM asks its suppliers to be eSync compliant. We were delighted to discover that, at CES, these discussions were taking place.

It has been a busy start to 2023 for the eSync Alliance team. Only a few days into the new year, we were bound for Las Vegas to showcase our technology at the world-renowned CES.

Alongside our partners at the Autoware Foundation, we demonstrated how our technology allows autonomous driving developers to make live over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Our stand at AutoTech: Megatrends COVESA Showcase, held at the Bellagio Hotel, was well received by nearly 2000 guests and was the perfect platform for us to exhibit our live LiDAR reconstruction using a digital twin powered by AWS.

OTA updates of autonomous driving software allow a vehicle to continue learning and improving while out on the road. Our bi-directional data pipeline plays a role in facilitating that by feeding in real-time data to improve in-car software. The demonstration at CES showed how our platform integrates into Autoware’s open-source autonomous vehicle software, based on the SOAFEE SIG software stack architecture.

Given the scale of CES, it’s no surprise that our OTA data pipeline was on display with many of our member companies and customers.

Green Hills Software provided one of the most compelling demonstrations of the pipeline’s functionality with a real-world simulation of a fully connected car. Built upon eSync’s OTA platform, the eDatx data collected from each component was sent wirelessly through the pipeline to the Excelfore booth for visitors to see.

Aptiv’s demonstrations gave selected guests the opportunity to view the company’s Smart Vehicle Architecture. Once again, this utilized the eSync OTA pipeline and eDatX data aggregation.

We have long said that the watershed moment for the eSync Alliance would be when an OEM asks its suppliers to be eSync compliant. We were delighted to discover that, at CES, these discussions were taking place.

The need for a standardized OTA pipeline is why we formed the eSync Alliance and why our membership base spans so many areas of the vehicle and the connected car ecosystem. Our representation at CES has undoubtedly shown that eSync is the solution the industry needs.
